IE 6.0 SP1 est la SEULE version avec des correctifs de sécurité à jour.
Les installations doivent être effectuées dans cet ordre.

La build/version de WMP9 ne change PAS, car les fichiers spécifiques
(comme WMP.DLL) ne peuvent PAS être remplacés.
Si vous le faites, WMP9 va se bloquer.
C'est pourquoi si vous installez par la suite toute mise à jour
officielle ou officieuse, vous resterez capables de n'installer
QUE les fichiers créés spécifiquement pour WMP9 et Windows 98/98
SP1/98 SE/ME.

98MP10FR implémente les dernières fonctionnalités de WMP10 XP et de WMP9 XP
SP3, même si vous ne voyez PAS 10.x.x.xxxx build quand vous utilisez
WMPLAYER.EXE ou MPLAYER2.EXE, dans le menu Aide -> Au sujet de...

SAUVEGARDE et DÉSINSTALLATION de 98MP10FR :


* SAUVEGARDE [BACKUP] :
98MP10FR SAUVEGARDE TOUS LES FICHIERS D'ORIGINE AVANT de les remplacer :
- %windir%\SYSTEM [habituellement C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM] = renommé en *.MP9
- C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player [default] = renommé en *.MP9
SEULEMENT si vous installez 98MP10FR une SEULE fois.
Si vous installez 98MP10FR plus d'une fois, les fichiers sauvegardés seront
écrasés !

* RESTAURATION [DÉSINSTALLATION] :
Pour restaurer les fichiers d'origine :
Bouton Démarrer -> Paramètres -> Panneau de Configuration -> Ajout/Suppression
de programmes -> choisissez "98MP10FR : Restaurer le Lecteur Windows Media
d'origine + fichiers IE" -> cliquez sur le bouton "Ajouter/Supprimer..." ->
redémarrez.
Ou lancez cette ligne de commande dans une fenêtre DOS ou session Windows :
RUNDLL32 %windir%\SYSTEM\ADVPACK.DLL,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\98MP10FR.INF,UNX

* RÉINSTALLATION :
Si vous installez 98MP10FR.EXE plus d'une fois, à chaque installation :
- il installe les MÊMES fichiers et écrase tout fichier pré-existant du même
nom
- il sauvegarde au préalable ces MÊMES fichiers, en se référant à leur nom
mais PAS au numéro de version.
C'est pourquoi... vous DEVEZ désinstaller 98MP10FR d'abord [pour RESTAURER les
fichiers d'origine], puis RÉINSTALLER 98MP10FR À NOUVEAU pour préserver la
sauvegarde des fichiers d'origine. Sans cela, la sauvegarde d'origine serait
écrasée et remplacée par les nouveaux fichiers sauvegardés.

* NETTOYAGE [SUPPRESSION] :
Vous POUVEZ supprimer ces fichiers sauvegardés, mais SEULEMENT APRÈS être
assuré que les nouveaux fichiers installés par 98MP10FR fonctionnent
correctement.
Vous ne pourrez PLUS RESTAURER les fichiers D'ORIGINE APRÈS avoir supprimé ces
sauvegardes !

Comment supprimer les sauvegardes :
Bouton Démarrer -> Paramètres -> Panneau de configuration -> Ajout/Suppression
de programmes -> sélectionnez "98MP10FR : Supprimer le Lecteur Windows Media
d'origine + fichiers IE sauvegardés" -> cliquez sur le bouton
"Ajouter/Supprimer...".

Tested only with Windows 98 SE, Windows XP SP2, Windows XP SP3 + WMP9.
NOT tested, but should work also with:
- Windows 98 (First Edition = FE), 98 SP1, ME, 2000, XP + 2003.
- WMP70, WMP71 + WMP8 (installed by Windows XP Pre-SP2).
May or may not work with WMP11, because WMP11 installs a newer (but BUGgy!)
version of L3CODECP.ACM 3.4.0.0 .

REQUIRES WMP71 or newer already installed:

WMP should NOT download automatically an inferior (older) version even if the
"Download codecs automatically" setting is enabled.

Following L3CODECP.ACM MP3 variable bit rates are set up pour encoding and can
be selected de the 4 "Audio quality" settings in WMP9 [WMP10 apparently
doesn't do 160 kBps :(]:
 64 kBps @ 22.050 Hz = Low Rate
128 kBps @ 44.100 Hz = Medium Rate
160 kBps @ 44.100 Hz = Medium High Rate
192 kBps @ 44.100 Hz = High Rate

All encoding is "joint stereo" by default, and canNOT be changed.

How to add more MP3 encoding rates into the registry [may or may not work]:

Album title, song name, artist etc can be downloaded and added to ID3 tags
automatically.

Files will be named inline with the downloaded info and your selection of
settings in WMP9 -> Tools -> Options -> Copy Music -> Copy music to this
location -> "File Name".

MP3s will be placed in folders named by album in "My Music" inside "My
Documents" folder by default.
However, you can change this in WMP9 -> Tools -> Options -> Copy Music -> Copy
music to this location -> "Change".

Digital Audio Extraction (DAE) can be enabled as follows:
1. Your CD/DVD drive(s) and sound card should be properly connected.
2. In Panneau de configuration -> Multimedia Properties -> CD Music tab ->
select the correct CD/DVD de the drop down list -> check the "Enable digital
CD audio for this CD-ROM device" box.
3. In WMP9 -> Tools -> Options -> Devices -> select your CD/DVD -> cliquez
Properties button -> fine tune your CD/DVD playback + copying.
For DAE you should probably select "Digital" and "Use error correction".

This codec should be picked up by any DirectShow/NetShow aware program/game
that uses codecs/filters to encode/decode/play/record audio/video, unless
another similar codec is installed by such programs/games [free(ware)

original WMP DLLs + OCXs [substitute %windir% with your actual Windows
path = habituellement C:\WINDOWS]:

3. Uninstall WMP:

WMP built-in unique ID "feature" [found as Registry GUID value] is sent (IF
active) as UDP packets to MS and other multimedia servers whenever certain
copyright protected audio/video files download/stream/play to your local
computer(s), which is considered by many a privacy violation.
How to disable WMP unique ID:
A. Run WMP [WMPLAYER.EXE] -> Tools -> Options -> Privacy tab -> uncheck "Send
unique Player ID to content providers" box -> Apply/OK.

How to automate this process:
1. Place DELUID.REG in the same directory where WMPLAYER.EXE resides,
habituellement C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player [default].
