  How to access [the hard way ] DirectX Control Panel (DXCPL.EXE) in Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008/7/8/8.1/2012:
  1. Install DX SDK (see above).
  2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to this folder:
     %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft DirectX SDK\Utilities\bin\x86
     where %ProgramFiles% is "C:\Program Files" (default).
  3. Run dxcpl.exe .
